Fun Facts About Jeans

    • The average American owns 7 pairs of jeans!
    • Jeans-inventor Levi Strauss of San Francisco is now the world's largest clothing manufacturer. Nothing like a great idea that keeps on giving!
    • "Jeans are the Coca Cola of clothing – consumed almost everywhere in the world." Great cliche, couldn't resist using it.
    • The original fabric used to make jeans was a serge from de Nimmes, France - what we now know as "denim."
    • Banned! In the 1950s and 60s most schools prohibited students from wearing jeans to school as they were deemed to represent rebellion. Can't have that!
    • Although popular throughout the world, jeans were often branded a symbol of evil capitalist corruption, and closet evil capitalists in these countries had a hard time buying them.
